Every year, the decorating and colour experts at Dulux’s Global Aesthetic Centre team up with designers, influencers and trend forecasters from around the world to select the Dulux Colour of the Year. The chosen shade of paint for Dulux Colour of the Year 2019 is Spiced Honey.
Dulux claims this warm amber tone perfectly captures the company’s current ‘Let The Light In’ interiors campaign by being a beautifully versatile colour that can create a whole range of moods in your home, depending on the palette and furnishings you combine it with.
“Spiced Honey is a colour which can be calming or nourishing, stimulating and energising, depending on the light and colours surrounding it,” explains Heleen van Gent, Creative Director of Dulux’s Global Aesthetic Centre.

What The Interior Design Journalists And Bloggers Are Saying About Spiced Honey…
“According to the experts, the tone encompasses a time for re-energising and optimism after the unpredictability of 2018.”
“We think this dreamy, neutral hue is as versatile as it is comforting, and would look stunning splashed about a bedroom or living space.”
Home & Antiques
“Get ready to sweeten up your home next year. It’s a warm neutral – think woody, sandy and inviting amber tones.”
Homes & Property
“It’s a shade that lends itself to a broad spectrum of interior styles.”
“Dulux’s pick for 2019’s standout colour is a warm shade of caramel, which they say will provide a comforting haven after a difficult year.”
House & Garden
“It’s the ultimate neutral, as it works just as well with terracottas, mustards and deep petrol blues as it does dusky pinks and lilacs.”
“It’s another cosy, warm, cashmere sort of shade.”
“My guess, based on past years, is that everyone will say no today and then in a few months it will start creeping in.”
Mad About The House
“It’s a warm biscuity tone… think salted caramel with a hint of amber. Delicious!”
Michelle Ogundehin, Former Editor in Chief at ELLE Decoration UK
“Personally, I really like the cosy tones of the new colour. I am an autumn decorator, in that I choose to decorate my home for those dark evenings, when the fire is lit and the lights are on.”
The Girl With The Green Sofa
“Planning on giving your home a bit of a revamp? It’s the perfect time of year for it.”
However, this thread on Mumsnet wasn’t quite so positive about Dulux’s selection of Spiced Honey as next year’s ‘must have’ colour…
